Donations And Sponsorship

Support from Our Foundation to ‘The Patients Association

World Patient Safety Day” (WPSD), celebrated annually on September 17, aims to raise global awareness about patient safety and calls for solidarity and joint action from all countries and international partners to reduce patient harm. This year’s theme for “World Patient Safety Day” focuses on enhancing diagnosis for patient safety, using the slogan “Elevate and Ensure Safety!” On this day, patients and their families, healthcare professionals, healthcare leaders, policymakers, and civil society will emphasize the critical role of accurate and timely diagnosis in improving patient safety.

As a foundation, in support of World Patient Safety Day on September 17, we made a donation to “The Patients Association,” an independent patient aid organization based in the United Kingdom that campaigns for the improvement of health and social care for patients. In recognition of this donation, our foundation was presented with a certificate of appreciation by the aforementioned association.

Patient Safety Extends Beyond Every Aspect Of Healthcare Services And Health Policy.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, stated: “It is imperative to urgently address the restoration of patients’ relationships with the services they need for well-being. Ensuring that more people receive the care they require and making patient collaboration a reality across health and care services must be prioritized. To achieve this, governments need to move patient collaboration from theory to practice, make quality patient care a national priority, establish genuine two-way communication between patients and health and care services, and ensure the necessary workforce is in place to meet patient needs. Supporting initiatives for patient safety is essential. We are pleased that our donation will contribute to ‘The Patients Association’ in continuing its work on patient safety as an independent and reputable organization.”

The Patients Association

The Patients Association is an independent patient support organization that campaigns for the improvement of health and social care for patients. Since its establishment in 1963, the Patients Association has investigated the health and care concerns raised by patients, monitored trends in patient satisfaction, and supported healthcare and social care providers in delivering services that meet the health and social care needs of every individual. Through its helpline, the association informs thousands of people annually about the health and social care system. Additionally, by engaging with the government and other stakeholders, it ensures that patients’ priorities and concerns are heard and acted upon. The association’s mission is to ensure that everyone has access to and benefits from the health and care they need to live well.

The donations and aid projects mentioned here were made by the founders of our Foundation, Nurten Tatlıcı and her son Uğur Tatlıcı, in memory of the late Salih Tatlıcı, the benevolent person whose name continues to live on through our Foundation and whom they bid farewell in journey to eternity in 2009.
