Happy International Day for Living Together in Peace!

Our foundation made a donation to the United Nations Human Rights Office on the occasion of the “International Day for Peaceful Coexistence,” celebrated worldwide on January 28th each year. This donation recognizes the commitment to building a world where dialogue prevails over conflict, respect triumphs over hatred, and unity surpasses division; a world where differences are overcome and problems are solved together; and a world where the rights of all people are protected and advanced globally. The United Nations has presented our foundation with a certificate of appreciation for this donation.

World Peace Can Be Achieved Through Understanding.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, stated: “Peace is more than the absence of war; it is the ability to live together despite our differences in gender, race, language, religion, or culture, and to protect the justice and human rights that make this coexistence possible. This is a continuous process and a long-term goal, requiring the constant care, vigilance, and active participation of everyone. With the rise of global instability and conflict, International Day for Peaceful Coexistence serves as a platform to raise awareness about diverse cultures, values, lifestyles, and beliefs, and to highlight the role of education in promoting tolerance. On this occasion, we, as a Foundation, have made a donation to the United Nations Office for Human Rights.

United Nations

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently comprising 193 Member States, the UN’s work is guided by the aims and principles set forth in its Charter. Over the years, the UN has evolved to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. However, one thing remains the same: it continues to be the only place where all nations of the world can come together, discuss common problems, and find common solutions that benefit all of humanity.

The donations and aid projects mentioned here were made by the founders of our Foundation, Nurten Tatlıcı and her son Uğur Tatlıcı, in memory of the late Salih Tatlıcı, the benevolent person whose name continues to live on through our Foundation and whom they bid farewell in journey to eternity in 2009.

We Made a Donation to Fight Industrial Farming

All over the world, industrial farms aim to increase people’s daily food consumption by using the smallest possible areas, at the lowest possible cost, in the shortest possible time, and as quickly as possible, to produce the largest possible quantities of meat, milk, and crops. These are generally farming practices where hundreds, thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of animals are crammed into very small areas. These farms not only play with public health, but also, as a result of the economic policies they follow, have brought small farmers, producers, and breeders to the point of extinction. Therefore, countries that have foreseen this danger either do not allow industrial farms or control their numbers and support small producers and breeders. As a foundation, we made a donation to the animal protection organization called “Sinergia Animal,” which works to end the worst practices of industrial animal husbandry. We received a thank-you letter from the aforementioned organization regarding the donation.

Animals Should Live A Life Free From The Pain, Suffering, And Stress That Humans Can İnflict Upon Them.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board member of our Foundation, stated: “The fate of industrially raised animals is one of the most urgent ethical questions of our time. Billions of sentient beings, each with complex perceptions and senses, live and die on the production line. Human power continues to grow, and our ability to harm or benefit other animals grows with it. For four billion years, life on Earth was governed by natural selection. Now it is increasingly governed by human intellectual design. Because biotechnology, nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence will enable living beings to be radically reshaped in new ways, we must take into account not only the welfare of homo sapiens, but that of all sentient beings”.

Sinergia Animal

Sinergia Animal is an international animal protection organization that seeks to end the worst practices of industrial animal agriculture. The team has extensive experience in this field and has achieved major victories for animals. In Southeast Asian and Latin American countries, it works to reduce the suffering of animals exploited by the food industry and to reduce animal protein consumption by promoting more compassionate and healthy diets. In 2018, after just over a year of operation, Sinergia Animal was recognized by the renowned Animal Welfare Organizations Assessment Agency (ACE) as one of the world’s most effective animal welfare NGOs. It has maintained this recognition every year from 2019 to 2021. And in 2022, it achieved this recognition for the fifth time. The StandOut classification awarded to Sinergia Animal demonstrates that its work and campaigns have the potential to help many animals in the food industry.

Happy International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women

On this meaningful day, our foundation made a donation to the Vienna-based organization WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe) based in Vienna, which works to increase women’s economic opportunities, provide cash for practical skills and job opportunities, ensure women’s participation in decision-making mechanisms and opportunities to become leaders in their communities, create a world with gender equality, and end violence against women. A certificate of appreciation was presented to our Foundation for the donation.

Together, we can build a world where every woman and girl can thrive, free from fear.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board member of our Foundation, stated: “Violence against women and girls is a global scourge. In our digital age, it is becoming even more widespread due to the accessibility and speed of technology. Misogynistic content is moving from the margins to the mainstream. Violence that begins in the digital world is rapidly spreading into the physical world in the form of stalking, abuse, and even femicide. Societies must take action to end this crisis. Technology companies must ensure that their platforms are safe and accountable. Digital spaces should not be allowed to be unsafe places for women and girls. When you empower a woman, entire communities benefit. As a foundation, we extend our love and respect to all women in our country and around the world, who are the most important element of peaceful, happy, and healthy family unity, which strengthens and shapes the structure of society and forms its cornerstones, and who are the hope of all humanity with their love, labor, and always selfless behavior, wishing them a healthy, happy, and peaceful life.

The WAVE Network is the only network dedicated solely to preventing and combating violence against women and girls. WAVE’s central office is located in Vienna, Austria, coordinating the network’s operations, advocacy, research, and capacity-building activities, and supporting collaboration between members and external partners. WAVE’s mission is to ensure that all women and children can live free from violence by strengthening and sustaining a European network of specialists and survivors providing specific support and prevention services for women; to share expertise and experience in preventing, combating, addressing, and ultimately ending male violence against women and children through an intersectional feminist approach.

Our foundation made a donation to the European Civil Liberties Union.

Human Rights Provide Us With The Tools To Build The Lives We Want To Live And The Communities We Want To Live In.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, stated: To achieve peace in our world, to combat poverty and hunger, to advance human rights, and to build a more sustainable world, all nations must work together. Looking to the future, we face challenges on a dizzying scale: increasing conflicts, climate chaos, out-of-control technologies, and threats to humanity. Now, more than ever, the world must commit itself to solving problems that no single nation can solve alone. As a Foundation, we too contribute to activities to defend the freedom of movement of human rights defenders and the universality of rights..

Happy “World Migratory Bird Day”

World Migratory Bird Day (WMBD) is an annual awareness-raising campaign launched in 2006, highlighting the need for the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats. World Migratory Bird Day is celebrated every year on the second Saturday in October.

Our Foundation has made a donation to “BirdLife International”, the largest international partnership in nature conservation, to support vital international work that can help ALBATROSSES—which have mastered the oceans for millions of years, traveled thousands of miles, and braved the fiercest storms to navigate endless horizons—to remain forever off the hook, and prevent the death of tens of thousands of albatrosses and hundreds of thousands of seabirds. A certificate of appreciation was presented to our Foundation by the organization regarding the donation.

Migratory birds connect people, ecosystems, and nations by rejuvenating our spirit and reminding us of nature as they traverse the globe.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation stated:

“As the seasons change, millions of migratory birds embark on their incredible journeys across plains, seas, and mountains, crossing many international borders along the way. As our world rapidly urbanizes and natural habitats come under increasing threat, creating bird-friendly cities and communities where birds can rest, refuel, and breed must be our most important goal. Up to 100,000 albatrosses are unintentionally killed each year due to equipment used in commercial fishing. Shared urban areas that provide safe spaces and routes for migratory birds will benefit all of us. Together, we can continue to protect migratory birds and everything they do for people and the planet. World Migratory Bird Day is an opportunity to appreciate migratory birds and the Earth’s natural cycles, which are vital for human well-being. Therefore, as a Foundation, we considered it our duty to donate to ‘BirdLife International’, an organization that works to conserve birds, their habitats, and global biodiversity.”

BirdLife International

BirdLife International is a global partnership of conservation organizations that works to protect birds, their habitats, and global biodiversity for sustainability in the use of natural resources. Founded in 1922, it is the world’s largest partnership of conservation organizations, with over 120 Partner organizations. It has over 2.5 million members and Partner organization members in more than 100 countries. Its headquarters are located in Cambridge, England.

BirdLife International’s priorities include preventing the extinction of bird species, identifying and protecting important areas for birds, conserving and restoring key bird habitats, and training conservation experts worldwide. BirdLife International has identified 7,500 Important Bird Areas and manages over 1,000,000 hectares of wildlife habitat. As the official listing authority for the World Conservation Union’s Red List of Threatened Species, BirdLife International has identified over 1,000 bird species facing the threat of extinction and developed conservation strategies for each of them.

Celebrating “World Cleanup Day” for a Greener World

World Cleanup Day is an annual global social action program aimed at tackling the global mismanaged waste crisis, including the marine litter problem. It is coordinated by “Let’s Do It World”, a global non-governmental organization headquartered in Tallinn, Estonia. As of 2024, “World Cleanup Day” has been officially declared a United Nations Dayto be held every year on September 20.

On the occasion of “World Cleanup Day”, our Foundation made a donation to the “Let’s Do It World” organization to support efforts for a cleaner and more beautiful world.

The aforementioned organization presented our Foundation with a certificate of appreciation regarding the donation.

Let’s Take Action Today to Leave a Liveable World for Future Generations.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation stated:

“Protecting the balance of nature is the responsibility of all of us. Plastic pollution is choking our planet, harming ecosystems, prosperity, and the climate. Marine litter, including plastic, paper, wood, metal, and other processed materials, is found on beaches worldwide and in all depths of the ocean. Every second, a truckload of clothes is dumped into landfills or burned. The fashion industry produces 92 million tons of textile waste annually, collapsing waste systems, polluting waterways, and fueling the climate crisis. It takes effort not just for one day, but every day, to leave a liveable world for future generations.

Happy World Cleanup Day, with the wish that everyone lives in a healthy, clean, and undamaged world.”

Let’s Do It World (LDIW)

Let’s Do It World (LDIW) is the world’s largest global civil action movement dedicated to raising awareness of and tackling the global waste crisis. It currently operates in 164 countries, making an impact through collective efforts and a bold vision for change. Through its network, LDIW annually brings together millions of people with key events such as World Cleanup Day (WCD) and Digital Cleanup Day (DCD). Over the years, these initiatives have evolved into global movements. In recognition of its efforts, LDIW was honored with the UN Habitat Scroll of Honour in 2021and the UN Sustainable Development Goals Mobilization Award in 2023. In 2024, World Cleanup Day was formally added to the UN calendar. Therefore, WCD and DCD aim to create lasting change by maximizing community engagement through widespread participation, fostering cross-sector collaboration, and accelerating the transition to a sustainable future.

Supporting Activities to Prevent, Halt, and Reverse the Loss of Nature

Our Foundation has made a donation to the “Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation”, a global movement that works to conserve plants, animals, and habitats, and encourages youth and organizations to restore all types of ecosystems—including forests, farmland, cities, wetlands, and oceans—and fight for climate justice. The aforementioned organization presented our Foundation with a certificate of appreciation regarding the donation.

Revitalizing Damaged Ecosystems Has Become an Urgent Need.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation stated:

“Ecosystems support all life on Earth. The healthier our ecosystems are, the healthier our planet and our people are. The restoration of ecosystems, both large and small, protects and improves the livelihoods of the people who depend on them. It also helps to regulate diseases and reduce the risk of natural disasters. However, these efforts will only succeed if everyone does their part. As a Foundation, we will continue to support international organizations like the ‘Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation’ that work to protect nature and the environment.”

Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation

The Plant-for-the-Planet Foundation is a global movement that began in January 2007 when 9-year-old Felix called on children to plant a million trees in every country. It encourages youth and organizations to restore forest ecosystems and fight for climate justice. To do this, it trains children, restores ecosystems, conducts restoration research, and provides free software tools and restoration advice to organizations worldwide. It aims to protect the three trillion trees in the world and bring back another one trillion trees.

We Support The Preservation Of Our World’s Cultural And Natural Heritage.

Our foundation has made a donation to UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), a United Nations agency that aims to preserve world peace and security through international cooperation in the fields of education, art, science, and culture.

Activities To Raise Public Awareness About The Protection Of World Heritage Should Be Supported.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation’s, said, “Activities to raise public awareness about the protection of World Heritage should be supported. Technical assistance and professional training should be provided to help countries protect their World Heritage properties. Emergency assistance should be provided to World Heritage sites at risk. The participation of local communities in the protection of their cultural and natural heritage should be encouraged. As a Foundation, we have also made a donation to the UNESCO fund, which is conducting very serious work in this area.”

Humans Must Provide Animals They Feed with Conditions Suitable for Their Needs.

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation stated:

Nature conservation, animal welfare, and human life are so interconnected that they cannot be considered separately. Humans must provide animals they feed with conditions suitable for their needs. Otherwise, they should not feed them. Humans have a moral obligation and responsibility to provide current and future generations with the natural values that make life on Earth possible. It is necessary to support efforts to protect all animals worldwide. As a foundation, we have supported ORCA, an international organization that works to help animals in need.”
