We Celebrate Mother’s Day for All Mothers Who Beautify Our World

We wish a happy Mother’s Day to all mothers who give us strength with their presence, never withhold their support from us, embody selflessness, love, and sensitivity in every aspect of our lives, and are the architects of our future.

As a foundation, we have donated to the international “United Nations Population Fund” (UNFPA), which is actively working to save the lives of women and girls who are most at risk as the war in Ukraine escalates and is seeking assistance from around the world to increase the distribution of life-saving services to people in need across the country. Our foundation has received a letter of thanks from the aforementioned organization for this donation.

United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)

UNFPA began operations in 1969 as the United Nations Fund for Population Activities. In the same year, the United Nations General Assembly declared that “parents have the right to freely and responsibly decide the number and spacing of their children.” In 1987, the organization was renamed the United Nations Population Fund.

The goal of UNFPA is to ensure that everyone, particularly women and young people, can exercise their sexual and reproductive rights and choices, including access to high-quality sexual and reproductive health services, voluntary family planning, maternal health services, and comprehensive sexuality education.

The International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) held in Cairo in 1994 made women’s empowerment and autonomy central to sustainable economic and social progress. The ICPD Programme of Action, adopted by 179 governments in Cairo, and the 2019 Nairobi Statement, which reaffirmed the commitment to this programme within the context of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, have since guided its work.

UNFPA operates in more than 150 countries and territories, home to the vast majority of the world’s population. Its mission is to ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person’s potential is fulfilled.

Guided by the 1994 ICPD Programme of Action, UNFPA partners with governments, civil society, and other organizations to advance its mission. UNFPA’s work is grounded in the belief that all people have equal rights and the right to protection.

The donations and aid projects mentioned here were made by the founders of our Foundation, Nurten Tatlıcı and her son Uğur Tatlıcı, in memory of the late Salih Tatlıcı, the benevolent person whose name continues to live on through our Foundation and whom they bid farewell in journey to eternity in 2009.
