Everyone Has a Vital Role to Play in Connecting the Health Sector
Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “The health sector has a unique and urgent role, not only because of its size and environmental impact, but also because of its role and position in society. Health practitioners are trusted, respected and listened to. We are grateful to all health workers in our country and around the world who rush to the aid of people with dedication and determination without discrimination of religion, language, race, gender, sect, day or night, snow or mud, feast or holiday. It is necessary to support work that demonstrates the potential of sustainable healthcare, which not only improves patient care but also saves money by creating more resilient health systems, keeping people and our planet safe, and pressing for policy action. We are delighted that our donation will enable health professionals to have a greater voice on key issues such as chemicals, climate change, green building, sustainable procurement, pharmaceuticals, sustainable food and help Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe to continue its work as an independent and respected organization.”
Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe
Health Care Without Harm (HCWH) Europe is a non-profit organization based in Brussels. It is a catalytic project that inspires action across society to protect human health and the environment. It has an approach that drives change in communities so that people can live healthier lives on a healthier planet. HCWH is a network of thousands of hospitals, healthcare leaders and healthcare professionals, with members in Europe and partners around the world. The movement brings together hospital executives who are finding new ways to reduce carbon emissions, nurses and doctors who are ending the over-reliance on single-use plastics in surgery, researchers who are looking for safer alternatives to toxic chemicals. This makes them safer for human health and our ecosystems. It supports procurement teams looking to move away from polluting medicines, and helps nurses raise awareness about how they can reduce the impact of climate change on our communities.
