As a foundation, we made a donation to The Danish Vegetarian Association, an organization based in Denmark that works to promote plant-based food through knowledge sharing, collaboration, and action in order to create a sustainable, ethical, and healthy plant-based food system. The aforementioned organization has presented our Foundation with a certificate of appreciation in connection with the donation.
A Natural and Healthy Lifestyle is the Starting Point for a Good and Long Life.
Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation stated:
“It is widely accepted that a vegetarian diet is not only nutritionally adequate but also a way to reduce the risk of many chronic diseases. A vegetarian diet has a positive impact on the environment by reducing the carbon footprint. The production of plant-based foods requires less water and energy compared to animal-based foods. This dietary approach is also preferred from an environmental sustainability perspective. Promoting plant-based diet guidelines is beneficial for both the planet and human health. According to research, plant-based diets significantly reduce negative environmental impacts. As a foundation, we have made a donation to The Danish Vegetarian Association, an organization working on plant-based nutrition.”
The Danish Vegetarian Association
The Danish Vegetarian Association (DVF) was founded on December 11, 1896, with the support of 33 members under the name “Danish Vegetarian Association.” The purpose clause in the association’s charter, which was adopted at the founding general assembly meeting, states that the association was initially established with two objectives:
- a) “To strengthen members’ vegetarian tendencies and guide them in the practical application of vegetarianism through regular meetings, partly through mutual conversation and partly through lessons.”
- b) “To facilitate or enable a vegetarian lifestyle by establishing vegetarian canteens or boarding houses for people who do not have their own homes.”
The association opposes the use of laboratory animals for “scientific animal cruelty”; it also opposes the use of animal products such as feathers, fur, and leather for clothing or other “fashion fads.” The association’s purpose: to promote the spread of vegetarian lifestyles; to provide information about vegetarian nutrition; to raise awareness about the nutritional adequacy of vegetarian diets, the benefits of ending the consumption of meat and animal products for both animals and humans, and for global sustainability; and to encourage the adoption of plant-based forms of agriculture. The association is a member of the European Vegetarian Union (EVU) and the International Vegetarian Union (IVU).
