On this meaningful day, our foundation made a donation to the Vienna-based organization WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe) based in Vienna, which works to increase women’s economic opportunities, provide cash for practical skills and job opportunities, ensure women’s participation in decision-making mechanisms and opportunities to become leaders in their communities, create a world with gender equality, and end violence against women. A certificate of appreciation was presented to our Foundation for the donation.
Together, we can build a world where every woman and girl can thrive, free from fear.
Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board member of our Foundation, stated: “Violence against women and girls is a global scourge. In our digital age, it is becoming even more widespread due to the accessibility and speed of technology. Misogynistic content is moving from the margins to the mainstream. Violence that begins in the digital world is rapidly spreading into the physical world in the form of stalking, abuse, and even femicide. Societies must take action to end this crisis. Technology companies must ensure that their platforms are safe and accountable. Digital spaces should not be allowed to be unsafe places for women and girls. When you empower a woman, entire communities benefit. As a foundation, we extend our love and respect to all women in our country and around the world, who are the most important element of peaceful, happy, and healthy family unity, which strengthens and shapes the structure of society and forms its cornerstones, and who are the hope of all humanity with their love, labor, and always selfless behavior, wishing them a healthy, happy, and peaceful life.
WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe)
WAVE stands for Women Against Violence Europe and is a non-profit, non-governmental network organization active in the field of combating violence against women. More specifically, WAVE is Europe’s largest Women’s Specialist Services (WSS) network, representing over 1,600 women’s organizations with more than 180 members across 46 European countries. Since its establishment in 1994, WAVE has worked to support and strengthen the human rights of women and children in general, and specifically to prevent violence against women and children.
The WAVE Network is the only network dedicated solely to preventing and combating violence against women and girls. WAVE’s central office is located in Vienna, Austria, coordinating the network’s operations, advocacy, research, and capacity-building activities, and supporting collaboration between members and external partners. WAVE’s mission is to ensure that all women and children can live free from violence by strengthening and sustaining a European network of specialists and survivors providing specific support and prevention services for women; to share expertise and experience in preventing, combating, addressing, and ultimately ending male violence against women and children through an intersectional feminist approach.
