Cane Donation to the Six Dots Association for the Blind

Uğur Tatlıcı and his mother Nurten Tatlıcı donated canes to the Six Dots Association for the Blind, one of the most rooted organizations operating in this field, in order to support our citizens with visual disabilities.

Regarding this donation made on behalf of the deceased businessman Salih Tatlıcı, the deceased’s wife Nurten Tatlıcı and his son Uğur Tatlıcı gave the message, “We must support and continue supporting our citizens with disabilities at every moment and stage of their lives,” and they announced that they will continue their supports to associations and foundations working for the public interest in order to keep the memory of the late Salih Tatlıcı alive.

Six Dots Association for the Blind

Six Dots Association for the Blind is one of our oldest and most well-established organizations in this field, which was founded in 1950 by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mithat ENÇ, who is also a person with visual disabilities, in order to enable those with visual disabilities to grow up as self-sufficient, productive and socially-integrated individuals in our country, and to find solutions to their social, educational, cultural and professional problems.The organization, which draws attention with its works, gained the status of an association working for the “Public Benefit” with the decision of the Council of Ministers in 1958.

The association, whose members and managers are all with visual disabilities, is an active member of the Turkish Federation of the Blind and maintains its cooperation with the European Blind Union and the World Blind Union.

The Six Dots Association for the Blind, which has branches in 31 cities, has around 6,500 members with visual disabilities. To date, it has carried out many social and cultural projects, especially in education and employment, for those with visual disabilities.

Significant Support to the Library for Individuals with Visual Disabilities from Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı

Uğur Tatlıcı and his mother, Nurten Tatlıcı, made a very meaningful donation to Boğaziçi University Internet Library for Individuals with Visual Disabilities GETEM. On behalf of and in memory of the late businessman Salih Tatlıcı, his wife Nurten Tatlıcı and their son Uğur Tatlıcı donated new computers to this e-library, which was created to provide audiobooks to those with visual disabilities.

Regarding the donation made to this important library serving those with visual disabilities, Uğur Tatlıcı stated, “During his lifetime, my late father had done a lot of charity work and made donations to support people in need. Now, together with my mother, we are fulfilling his oral will to keep the memory of my father alive, and we support charitable institutions and organizations as much as we can. The computer donation we made to this special library is a continuation of these, and we will continue to support institutions and organizations that serve our citizens with disabilities.

Boğaziçi University, Library for Individuals with Visual Disabilities GETEM

Library for Individuals with Visual Disabilities is an e-library that has been operating within Boğaziçi University since 2006 and was developed by the University’s Assistive Technology and Education Laboratory for Individuals with Visual Disabilities (GETEM).It provides 24-hour online service for individuals with visual disabilities and other individuals who have difficulty in accessing printed works due to their disability to have them access the Turkish and English audiobooks and information resources in the library’s extensive archive and access to libraries and archives abroad that provide similar services.In addition to these, access to daily newspapers and weekly and monthly magazines is also offered through the GETEM archives.

Boğaziçi University Library for Individuals with Visual Disabilities, which is one of the most important libraries that serves not only half a million citizens with visual disabilities in our country, but also students with visual and other disabilities access to the information resources they need, continues its activities by further improving its services with the meaningful support of philanthropists such as Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı.

A Meaningful Donation to the Turkish Kidney Foundation

Businessman Uğur Tatlıcı made a very meaningful donation to the Turkish Kidney Foundation on behalf of his late father, Salih Tatlıcı. Uğur Tatlıcı purchased a large number of poetry books titled, “Unnamed,” which was donated by Selda Topal, the wife of Fenerbahçe’s national football player Mehmet Topal, to generate income for the Foundation, in order to contribute to this beautiful and meaningful cooperation between Selda Topal and the Foundation. Uğur Tatlıcı distributed the book to the loved and close ones of late businessman Salih Tatlıcı as a gift and thus provided significant support to the Foundation.

Uğur Tatlıcı continues to fulfill the oral will of his late father Salih Tatlıcı, along with his mother Nurten Tatlıcı, to support people in need, by donating to charitable organizations.

Most recently, Uğur Tatlıcı made a very important donation to provide income to the Turkish Kidney Foundation, which was established in 1985 to support kidney patients in our country.

Selda Topal, the wife of Fenerbahçe’s national football player Mehmet Topal, is a philanthropic citizen known for her support to many non-governmental organizations working to help people.Selda Topal published her new poetry book,”Unnamed,” which she wrote to support children undergoing dialysis treatment with the help of the Turkish Kidney Foundation, on December 2, the birthday of her son Mehmethan. She dedicated the book to her son Mehmethan and her husband Mehmet Topal and donated all of the sales revenues of the book to the Turkish Kidney Foundation, of which she is a member of the board of trustees.

Certificate of Appreciation from the National Education Foundation to Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı

A Plaque of Appreciation was presented to the late businessman Salih Tatlıcı’s wife Nurten Tatlıcı and their son Uğur Tatlıcı for their scholarship donation to the National Education Foundation.

During his lifetime, the deceased businessman Salih Tatlıcı was attaching great importance to education and helping children and youth in need and their families.

Scholarship Donation from Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı to the National Education Foundation

The late businessman Salih Tatlıcı’s wife Nurten Tatlıcı and their son Uğur Tatlıcı donated scholarships to the National Education Foundation to support our children and youth in need, from elementary school to college.

We are trying to keep my father’s memory alive by fulfilling his will.

The National Education Foundation was established on February 19, 1981 by the leading business people, academics, and bureaucrats of our country, including VehbiKoç and SakıpSabancı, and started its activities under the name of the Ministry of National Education Foundation.The Foundation, which became stronger with the support and donations of our citizens and business people, changed its name to the National Education Foundation in 1986.
