As Salih Tatlıcı Foundation, we have donated to The Garvan Institute of Medical Research, based in Australia, which enables scientists to discover better treatments for the most devastating diseases affecting society today. The Garvan Institute sent a letter of thanks to our Foundation regarding the donation.
It Is Our Greatest Wish That All People In The World Can Live Longer And Healthier Lives
Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Today, as human life gets longer, new diseases are emerging. Very important scientific research is being carried out in the world for people to live longer and healthier lives and to age healthily while living. In addition, intensive studies are being carried out to discover the unknown properties of the human body, especially our brain. We can create a future where everyone lives longer and healthier by supporting institutions such as Garvan that conduct research in this direction.”
The Garvan Institute of Medical Research
The Garvan Institute of Medical Research began its operation as a small research department of St Vincent’s Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney. Construction of the original Garvan Institute building began in January 1962 and the Institute officially opened on 17 February 1963.
Garvan brings together clinicians with the world’s leading basic and translational researchers. It is patient-centred and its researchers break down the barriers among traditional scientific disciplines to find solutions to disease. They have uncovered the causes and treatments for diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis, cancer, immune deficiency and autoimmunity.
Garvan’s research has a global impact. It is a leader in the fields of medical genomics, epigenetics and cellular genomics. It is focused on addressing the unmet needs of those living with diseases where better understanding, new treatments and more effective diagnosis can have the greatest impact.
