Our Foundation Supports “Once Girl Can Society”

According to the BBC Afghanistan correspondent, the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, which bans girls from attending university, also prevents girls from leaving the country to study abroad.

As the Foundation, we have donated to One Girl Can Society, a charity organisation registered in Canada and Kenya, which supports every step of a girl’s life-changing journey from the moment she leaves primary school until the day she finds a significant job. The Foundation received a letter of thanks from the society regarding the donation.

It Is Possible To Raise A Generation, One Girl At A Time

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Girls need to be well educated in order for future generations to grow up healthy. Even a modest donation will help drive a cycle of empowerment that will raise up a generation, one girl at a time. Because when you help one girl overcome the pressures of poverty and gender inequality, she can do the same for another. Every gift, big or small, will help empower a generation of girls.

One Girl Can Society

One Girl Can was founded in 2008 by South African-born Lotte Davis to help break the cycle of poverty and increase gender equality through education. Activities first began in some of the poorest areas of Kenya. Recognising that a safe learning environment is essential to support girls’ education, girls’ schools were built and renovated.

One Girl Can Society creates opportunities for young women through a holistic model of education, mentoring and training. One Girl Can now proudly sponsors more than 1,000 girls. Many of the students enter medical school, and become engineers, lawyers, technologists and business professionals. The mentoring programme runs from the time the girls start secondary school until their final year of university. The programme currently mentors more than 11,000 students annually.

We Stand by the Friendly and Brotherly Palestinian People

Our Foundation has donated to the “Palestine Red Crescent Society“, which is closely interested in the health, welfare, social and cultural needs of the friendly and brotherly Palestinian people living in the Palestinian territories (Jerusalem and the West Bank, including the Gaza Strip), which have been occupied by Israel, who have been killed, maimed and wounded by Israel’s brutal attacks for years, without any elderly, children or women.

A letter of thanks has been presented to our Foundation by the Society regarding the donation.

Israel Must End The Occupation Of Palestinian Territories

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Israel has been illegally occupying the Palestinian territories for more than fifty years. For fifty years, Israel has been persecuting our innocent Palestinian brothers and sisters who have become a minority in their own homeland and cannot live their religion, including the holy days of Muslims. We condemn the Israeli security forces’ attacks on places of worship, under various pretexts, and the atrocities committed by the Israeli security forces against our Palestinian brothers and sisters who worship by disregarding the spirituality and sanctity of the places of worship. Our anger towards Israel is not because they are Jews, but because they are occupiers, expansionists, and oppressors. As a foundation, we supported the “Palestine Red Crescent Society”, which operates for the friendly and brotherly Palestinian people. On this occasion, we hope that diplomatic efforts will be concluded positively as soon as possible, Israel’s occupation will end and peace will be established permanently.

This important role and legal status of the Society was confirmed by Presidential Decree No. 46 of 1977 and Presidential Decree No. 12 of 2006. Accordingly, the Society obtained full membership (member No. 184) of the International Federation of Indians. The Society aims to increase its preparedness for various emergencies, such as natural disasters and the suffering caused by the occupation, in order to prevent human suffering and to continue to provide and develop the community’s health and social services and programmes. It aims to strengthen and diversify the Society’s partnerships to improve the quality of the homeland and the Diaspora, to activate its pressure, advocacy and humanitarian diplomacy programmes and to receive support to develop its humanitarian role, to continue the process of institutional building and to strengthen the capabilities of the Society. On the 78th Anniversary of the Tragedy in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, We Share the Sorrow of the Friendly Japanese Nation

On 6 and 9 August 1945, two atomic bombs exploded over the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively. The bombings killed between 129,000 and 226,000 people, most of them civilians. Wildlife was destroyed where the bombs were dropped. People became ill and continued to die later because of the radiation spread over Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Since radiation also affected reproductive cells, babies were born with genetic disorders.

As the Foundation, we have donated to Friends of the Earth Japan (FoE Japan), a non-governmental organisation working in Japan and around the world to stop climate change, nuclear energy and deforestation, to share the pain of our Japanese friends.

All Nuclear Switches Must Be Made Meaningless Immediately

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Despite the tragedy that took place in Japan 78 years ago, the use of nuclear weapons in an armed conflict continues to be a threat today. Sharing the sorrow of our Japanese friends today is not only about remembering the terrible, albeit vital, loss of life in Hiroshima and Nagasaki 78 years ago but also about committing ourselves to work for humanity, for a better future, and for children not to die. As a human family, we must not forget the tragedy of these two cities. We must ensure that future generations know the destruction caused by nuclear weapons and are inspired to take action to eliminate the threat of nuclear weapons.”

Friends of the Earth – Japan

Since 1980, Friends of the Earth Japan* has been striving for a sustainable society where all life on the planet is in harmony and everyone can live in abundance. It works by bringing together all voices, even if each person’s voice is small, such as the voices of residents facing development projects, the voices of people who fear radiation damage, and the voices of the surrounding environment. It aims to create power together with citizens who want to stop climate change, nuclear power and deforestation. “Friends of the Earth Japan operates with the support of donors and volunteers

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “As is the case every summer, we are very saddened to receive news of forest fires almost every day, not only in our country but also in many parts of the world. Various measures should be taken in our country and all over the world to prevent forest fires. People should be constantly made aware of this issue. With the principle of sustainable life, we support voluntary, conscious, pioneering non-governmental organisations in our country and in the world that work on the basis of science for the protection of all-natural assets, especially our lands, and believe in social peace coming from the soil. We will always continue to do our part to protect nature and the environment.”

Support For Education Is The Priority Of Our Foundation

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Today’s technology has provided innovations in the education sector as in every field. Technological products, which are the easiest way to access information, have started to be included among the educational tools and equipment in our schools. As the Foundation, we will continue to support education at every opportunity.”

What is a smart board?

Smart board products are technological products that provide students with an interactive education using the speed and flexibility of the computer. These products can connect to the internet and access video, text or websites and can also be preferred as a writing board.

Smart boards allow teachers to write and transfer information by touch without the need for apen. In this way, a much faster and more efficient infrastructure has been created in education.

The conveniences that the smart board introduces to education and training are as follows:

  • It allows the processing of all kinds of documents and data in the virtual environment.
  • It increases the teaching capacity of teachers and provides students with a pleasant educational
    experience.
  • It enables students to study more efficiently.
  • Thanks to interactive applications, it enables students to develop creative thinking ability.
  • It makes the lessons more permanent and professional.
  • Students and teachers can access the lessons taught at any time.
  • Finally, it is worth mentioning that it provides administrative savings since products such as
pencils and chalk are not needed.
