Our Foundation Has Supported Our Children with Leukaemia to Recover Their Health

As Salih Tatlıcı Foundation, we have donated to LÖSEV Children with Leukaemia Health and Education Foundation, which is the most well-established organization in Turkey that works to provide all kinds of needs, especially health, and education, for children with leukemia and blood diseases, and to help adult leukemia and cancer patients and their families.

The Value Of Health Is Appreciated When It Is Lost

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Thousands of our children are diagnosed with leukemia every year. In the fight against this disease, we should never forget the healing power of love and hope. Leukaemia is a disease that can now be cured. We should not forget that the sensitivity and support to be shown may one day be needed by us. LÖSEV, which has been holding the hands of our children tightly since its establishment, provides financial support to children with leukaemia, advanced treatment opportunities, and turns dreams into reality by conducting comprehensive research on the disease, offers many services for leukaemia children in line with its goals. We, as the Foundation, will always continue to stand by our children with leukemia who are struggling with their small bodies.”

LÖSEV Children with Leukaemia Health and Education Foundation

LÖSEV Children with Leukaemia Health and Education Foundation was established in 1998. In 2000, LÖSANTE, Turkey’s first and only Hospital for Children with Leukaemia, in 2008, the School for Children with Leukaemia, where children with leukaemia can receive a free college education, and in 2010, the Village for Children with Leukaemia, where our families coming from outside Ankara for their treatment can stay for long or short periods during their treatment, were put into operation. During this period, LÖSEV raised awareness not only among children with leukaemia and cancer patients, but also among the whole of Turkey about leukaemia, cancer and prevention methods, and continued to create deep-rooted solutions and provide social and permanent services. In 2015, LÖSANTE, Europe’s first and Turkey’s most well-equipped Children with Leukaemia City and a multidisciplinary hospital, was brought to our country with the motto “humanity should not die and people should not die”.

United Nations

The United Nations is an international organization founded in 1945. Currently comprising 193 Member States, the work of the United Nations is guided by the purposes and principles set out in its Charter. The United Nations has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. But one thing has remained the same: It remains the only place where all the nations of the world can come together, discuss common problems, and find common solutions for the benefit of all humanity.

Life Continues in the Containers Sent to Nurdağı by Our Foundation

To meet the shelter needs of our citizens who had to live on the streets due to the great earthquake disaster in our country, life continues in the containers that Salih Tatlici Foundation sent to Nurdağı immediately after the earthquake…

We express our gratitude to everyone who worked selflessly after the earthquake.

On this opportunity, we wish mercy to our citizens who lost their lives in the earthquake, condolences to their relatives, and a quick recovery to the wounded.

Our Support for Earthquake Victims Continues

Our Foundation has donated to BEDD (Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled), which has started a campaign to provide a prosthesis to a “mother” who lost her left foot at the knee level and whose husband and children were also injured in the earthquake in Hatay province on February 6, 2023, because she was buried in the wreckage for 12 hours, to make her life easier compared to her previous standards.

We will continue to support organizations that strive for a life without barriers

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “We hope that our citizens who were injured in the earthquake disaster that affected 11 provinces of our country will reconnect to life and forget their deep pain. As the Foundation, we have donated to the Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled, which has started a campaign to provide prostheses for Lady Rüzgar, who lost her left leg at the knee level due to being buried in the wreckage in Hatay. We wish Lady Rüzgar to regain her health and an unhindered life as soon as possible.”

The Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled (BEDD) with a History of Approximately 30 Years

BEDD was founded on 20 July 1993 as a charity association in order to provide social solidarity by contributing to the education and health needs of all orthopedically disabled citizens of the Republic of Turkey. It aims to provide the necessary support for disabled citizens within its body regardless of religion, language, race, region and gender.  It has become a pioneering association in Turkey in breaking down barriers with the activities it carries out. As one of the top twenty most well-known and trusted non-governmental organisations of Turkey, it aims to serve more disabled citizens. It focuses on providing treatment, assistance and education opportunities to physically disabled children and young people, and pioneers their active participation in social life with awareness-raising of their families and society in general. The number of disabled citizens living in Turkey is approximately over 13 million. BEDD delivered wheelchairs suitable for their needs to approximately 45,185 disabled people since 1993 when it was founded to enable disabled individuals to participate in life.

BEDD conducts comprehensive activities on those in need in wheelchair distributions and strives to provide the appropriate vehicle for the nature of the individual disability. These wheelchairs are delivered to disabled people in need with distribution ceremonies organized in 81 provinces with Governorships, District Governorships, or Municipalities throughout the country.

We Supported “World Stop Smoking Day” on May 31st

Since 1987, May 31 has been celebrated as “World Stop Smoking Day” in the member countries of the World Health Organization (WHO). On this day, smokers are encouraged to stop smoking for 24 hours.

The WHO recognizes tobacco as an epidemic, “the greatest public health threat the world has ever seen”. It calls on all governments to adopt policies such as banning advertising and increasing cigarette taxes to curb tobacco use.

As a foundation, we have donated to the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum -DKFZ), which is internationally committed to groundbreaking cancer research to find a cure for smoking-induced cancer.

Tobacco Use Must Stop to Save Our Planet

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Tobacco harms both people and the environment. Tobacco cultivation, production, and use poison our water, soil, beaches, and city streets with chemicals, toxic waste, cigarette butts, and e-cigarette waste, including microplastics. The tobacco industry’s harmful impact on the environment is enormous and is increasing by putting unnecessary pressure on our planet’s already scarce resources and fragile ecosystems. For World Stop Smoking Day on May 31st, our Foundation has donated to the German Cancer Research Center, which conducts research to fight cancer, the most important disease caused by smoking.”

German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum -DKFZ)

Founded in 1964, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is committed to conducting groundbreaking Cancer Research at the highest international level. Through its activity, it aims to save lives and improve the well-being of those affected by cancer. It strives to provide its employees with an environmentally sensitive and socially just workplace while conducting outstanding research in a responsible, sustainable, and climate-friendly manner.

DKFZ, the largest biomedical research institute in Germany and a member of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers, is committed to excellence in research and to conducting research in a sustainable manner. It believes that groundbreaking research that saves lives and improves well-being in cancer should not also contribute to societal harm and environmental degradation.

DKFZ develops a sustainability strategy to conduct research in an environmentally and socially responsible manner, including targets in the areas of organizational development, research, human resources, construction and infrastructure, and purchasing, in line with science-based targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

We Continue to Support Projects Connecting Nature and People

As Salih Tatlici Foundation, we have donated to the “EuroNatur Foundation“, which strives to protect Europe’s wildlife, preserve habitats, provide a nature-friendly economic perspective for local people, and protect plants, animals, and habitats.

We Support Nature Conservation Efforts

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Ecological and climate crisis threaten the health of the planet, human livelihoods, and biodiversity. Climate action must work with nature by phasing out fossil fuels and nuclear energy while prioritizing renewable energies that can minimize their impact on nature and take into account nature’s ecological capacities. In addition to our support for national organizations striving to protect nature and the environment, we will continue to support international organizations such as the EuroNatur Foundation.”

EuroNatur Foundation

EuroNatur Foundation is a non-profit foundation founded in 1987 by Friends of the Earth Germany (Bund für Umwelt- und Naturschutz Deutschland, BUND), Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (Naturschutzbund Deutschland, NABU) and Environmental Action Germany (Deutsche Umwelthilfe, DUH). The founders of EuroNatur realized that it would no longer be enough to advance positive developments in Germany alone. Thus they led to the concept of a Europe-wide movement for a borderless nature. From the very beginning, EuroNatur has been very active in Eastern and South-Eastern Europe.

Shortly after the foundation was founded, dramatic upheavals took place in the region and the fall of the Iron Curtain created opportunities for cross-border nature conservation. Through the “European Green Belt” initiative, they managed to build a strong network to protect the natural treasures along the Green Belt. EuroNatur presents new opportunities for nature conservation, improving understanding and sharing experiences across national borders. Working together with partner organizations in EuroNatur’s project areas and with the support of EuroNatur donors and sponsors, much remains to be done, much has been achieved for the conservation of Europe’s natural riches and they continue to fight to protect Europe’s natural heritage.

We Celebrate Mother’s Day with All Mothers Who Beautify Our World

Happy “Mother’s Day” to all mothers who give us strength and support with their presence, who represent self-sacrifice, love, and sensitivity in every aspect of our lives and who are the architects of our future.

Helping Our Dear Friends Is A Duty Of Humanity

Salih Tatlıcı Foundation has donated to OIPA (International Organisation for Animal Protection), one of Europe’s leading organizations in the field of animal rights, which campaigns peacefully against animal abuse and is headquartered in Italy.

Animal Abuse Must Be Combated And A Cruelty-Free Lifestyle Must Be Promoted

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board member of our Foundation, said: “Animals should no longer be harmed or exploited for human interests, and they should be allowed to live their lives in peace. All people should recognize and respect the rights of animals and animals should be protected by law all over the world. All animals, regardless of their species, should enjoy their basic rights to life and freedom. As the Foundation, we felt it our duty to donate to “OIPA”, an organization that fights against animal abuse and strives to promote a cruelty-free lifestyle for all animals.”

“OIPA” (International Organisation for Animal Protection)

Headquartered in Milan, Italy, OIPA has been carrying out its activities in the field of animal rights all over the world, including our country, since 1981. It is one of the world’s oldest animal rights groups.

OIPA is a non-governmental organization affiliated with the United Nations Department of Global Communications, the United Nations Environment Assembly, and the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The aim of the association is the advocacy of animal rights and the defense of animals against all forms of mistreatment. It also pursues the goal of improving public health through the abolition of all forms of animal experimentation worldwide. The organization also works for environmental defense, where dangerous ecological conditions can harm human health and the integrity of animal and plant life. It wants to contribute to a better, healthier, and more humane world, a non-violent medical science, a more efficient sanitary structure, and an ecologically clean environment.

OIPA’s activities are based on non-violence and non-infringement of individual personal freedom. OIPA’s primary goal is the abolition of live slaughter in every country in the world.

Humanitarian Aid to Sudan from our Foundation

The Salih Tatlici Foundation donated to the World Food Programme (WFP), a leading international aid organization that saves the lives of civilians adversely affected by the civil war in Sudan, provides food aid, and works with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

We Supported Civil War Victims in Sudan

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “As we have learned from the news in the media, the humanitarian tragedy in Sudan continues to escalate with the increase in hunger. A record number of people, about one-third of the population, were already facing hunger in Sudan before the current conflict erupted. The ongoing violence has the potential to drive millions more people into hunger. As the Foundation, we supported the aid campaign organized by the World Food Programme (WFP) to continue providing much-needed food, medical and humanitarian assistance in Sudan. On this occasion, we hope that diplomatic efforts to end the civil war will be concluded positively and peace will come as soon as possible.

World Food Programme – WFP

The World Food Programme (WFP) was established in 1961 (by order of US President Dwight Eisenhower) as an experiment to provide food aid through the United Nations system. Its mission is emergency relief, but also rehabilitation. The first development program was launched in 1963 for the Nubian community in Sudan. Today, WFP is the world’s largest humanitarian aid organization, saving lives and changing lives. When disasters occur, it strives hard to support nutrition and food security. Its field presence is deep; its operational understanding of food needs is unrivaled.

In October 2020, the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided to award the Nobel Peace Prize to WFP due to its “efforts to combat hunger, its contribution to improving conditions of peace in conflict-affected areas, and acting as a driving force to prevent hunger from being used as a weapon of war and conflict”. In 2022, WFP collected a record-breaking US$ 14.2 billion in contributions. WFP has about 21,000 staff worldwide, more than 90 percent of whom are based in the countries where the agency assists. WFP is governed by a 36-member Board of Directors. It works in close cooperation with its two Rome-based sister organizations, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. WFP partners with more than 900 national and international NGOs to provide food assistance and tackle the underlying causes of hunger.

We Love Nature and Support Strongly to Protect It

As Salih Tatlıcı Foundation, we have donated to “Pro Natura“, founded in 1909 in Switzerland, the oldest nature conservation organization of Switzerland and also a member of “Friends of the Earth International“, which produces projects to protect the natural diversity of animals, plants, and habitats, to strengthen biodiversity, to protect natural landscapes and resources.

Pro Natura management presented a certificate of appreciation to our Foundation.

Environmental Problems Do Not End at Borders

Regarding the donation, Uğur Tatlıcı, Executive Board Member of our Foundation, said: “Climate change and the global energy crisis threaten the lives and livelihoods of billions of people around the world, and hit the poorest the hardest. We believe that our economic system must function to improve people’s lives and the environment. We urgently need to protect forests for a sustainable future for all. If people feel closer to nature and are encouraged to question their behaviors and habits, they will be more attentive and respectful of the environment. In addition to our support for national organizations working to protect nature and the environment, we will continue to support well-established international organizations such as “Pro Natura“.”

Pro Natura

Pro Natura is Switzerland’s oldest nature conservation organization.

It loves nature, defends its interests, and provides it with a strong voice. It continues its activities to protect and promote the natural diversity of animals, plants, and habitats. Founded in 1909, one of the organization’s pioneering achievements was the establishment of the Swiss National Park. Today, Pro Natura supervises around 700 nature reserves and manages a dozen nature centers in Switzerland. On a national level, it operates through its central organization, but also in all Swiss regions with cantonal offices.

Pro Natura is also active internationally as a member of “Friends of the Earth International”. It has broad support with around 170,000 members and 25,000 loyal donors. Pro Natura is Zewo* certified.
