Another Year Passed Without You…

We commemorate our precious husband and father, Salih Tatlıcı, who we have always
cherished and will always keep in our hearts since he passed away on February 22, 2009,
leaving us in great pain, with respect, love, and longing.
 
We miss our father and traveling companion in life, Salih Tatlıcı, very much, who is with us at
every moment of life with its bitter and sweet, does not spare us his support, sets an example
for us with his modest and humble life and outlook on life.
 
We will continue to walk in the footsteps of our father, Salih Tatlıcı. He has devoted himself
to charity throughout his life and has always been there for those in need with his
unconditional love and compassion until our last breath.
 
In 2022, our goal will be to continue charity work for people and areas that could always use a
helping hand, such as people with disabilities, environment, education, culture, and stray
animals, both at home and abroad.
 
The Covid-19 virus pandemic, which has negatively affected our country and the whole world
for two years, has taken away many of our people from the world. Many of our people
continue to struggle for their lives in hospitals. My son and I bow respectfully in front of all
healthcare professionals worldwide, especially in our country, who work with great devotion
and who we could never repay them.
 
We sincerely hope that 2022 will be a beautiful year when incurable diseases and virus
epidemics come to an end in our country and all over the world, and love, peace, and serenity
will reign again.

Support from Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı to LÖSEV

The late businessman Salih Tatlıcı’s wife Nurten Tatlıcı and their son Uğur Tatlıcı made
donations to the LÖSEV-Health and Education Foundation for Children with Leukemia
to provide all kinds of needs, especially health and education, of children with leukemia and
blood disease, and to help adult leukemia and cancer patients and their families.

What could be more critical than rehabilitating our children, our adults?

Regarding the donation, “The fact that LÖSEV is an institution that provides support to
thousands of children with leukemia, adult leukemia, and cancer patients and their
families and finds permanent solutions to their problems has been a guide for me and my
mother in our struggle for life. We are happy if we could be of benefit to such a valuable
institution.” Uğur Tatlıcı said.

LÖSEV, which makes leukemia and cancer patients smile

LÖSEV-Health and Education Foundation for Children with Leukemia was founded in
1998. In 2000, Turkey’s first and only Hospital for Children with Leukemia, LÖSANTE,
in 2008 the School for Children with Leukemia, where children with leukemia can receive
a free college education, and in 2010, the Village for Children with Leukemia was put into
operation so that our families visiting from outside Ankara for their treatment can stay for a
long or short term during the treatment. During this period, LÖSEV not only raised the
awareness of children with leukemia and cancer patients, but also the whole of Turkey on
leukemia, cancer, and ways to prevent it and continued to create radical solutions and provide
social and permanent services. In 2015, with the motto, “Do Not Let Humanity Die, Do Not
Let Humans Die,” Europe’s first and country’s most equipped City for Children with
Leukemia and its multidisciplinary hospital, LÖSANTE, was brought to our country.

Dear Friends;
 
As you know, we published commemorative messages in a national newspaper
every anniversary of February 22, 2009, when the late Salih Tatlıcı passed
away.
 
From this year forward, instead of publishing a commemorative message, we
decided to start the practice of making donations to non-governmental
organizations that operate in fields that have an important place in social life,
such as education, the environment, health, wildlife protection, and that need
constant material and moral support, and exhibit the highest examples of social
solidarity all over the world, especially in our country.

Support to Fight Against Hunger from Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı

Late businessman Salih Tatlıcı’s wife Nurten Tatlıcı and their son Uğur Tatlıcı donated to the World Food Programme (WFP), which works under the United Nations and fights hunger worldwide. Uğur and Nurten Tatlıcı, who donated to the School Feeding section created by the program for the healthy nutrition of school-age children, became the program’s supporters that help feed millions of children worldwide every day as the world’s largest and most comprehensive school meal provider.

For a Better World, Don’t Let Children Go Hungry

“My late father used to say that ‘hunger is one of the greatest disasters that can happen to a person.’” He always prayed that no one would be educated by hunger, and he always supported everyonestarving, whether child or adult. If we want to live in a world in peace and tranquility, the problem of hunger must be resolved. In a world of abundance, hunger should be a thing of the past. My mother and I also believe that hunger will lead to diseases, deaths, and an increase in the tendency to commit crimes, and we support organizations that fight hunger,” Uğur Tatlıcı said regarding the donation.

Humanitarian organization that saves and changes lives: World Food Program (WFP)

World Food Programme (WFP) is the ‘United Nations’ food aid program and the world’s largest humanitarian organization in the field of hunger and food security. Established in 1961, the program also delivers food aid to people in emergencies such as wars and natural disasters.

One of the fields of activity within the scope of the World Food Programme is the support of School Feeding. Almost all countries around the world have a school meal program, and every day, efforts are made to ensure that at least 368 million children, from kindergartens to secondary schools, have a healthy diet and complete their development in favorable conditions.

With the efforts of the World Food Programme, effective steps can be taken for both education and healthy nutrition of children by reaching the poor and families struggling with hunger through their school-age children.

Support From Nurten And Uğur Tatlıcı To The Solidarity Association For The Physically Disabled (BEDD)

Nurten Tatlıcı, wife of the late businessman Salih Tatlıcı, and Uğur Tatlıcı, their son, have donated to BEDD (The Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled), which has gained a respectable foothold in our country, especially with its activities aimed at removing the obstacles to the participation of our orthopedically disabled citizens to social life. On this opportunity, a certificate of appreciation was presented by Mr Kemal Demirel, President of the association.

Uğur Tatlıcı said regarding the donation: “My late father always approached our disabled friends with love and compassion and tried to be a partner in their troubles at every opportunity, by feeling deeply that they were living a difficult life. As part of the cooperation developed with the Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled, my mother and I will always continue to support the activities carried out to meet the wheelchair and other equipment needs of our orthopedically disabled citizens, as well as the educational aid given to the school-age children of disabled families and the support given to the charitable activities of the Association previously“.

The Solidarity Association for the Physically Disabled (BEDD) with a History of Approximately 30 Years

BEDD was founded on 20 July 1993 as a charity association in order to provide social solidarity by contributing to the education and health needs of all orthopedically disabled citizens of the Republic of Turkey. It aims to provide the necessary support for disabled citizens within its body regardless of religion, language, race, region and gender. It has become a pioneering association in Turkey in breaking down barriers with the activities it carries out.

As one of the top twenty most well-known and trusted non-governmental organisations of Turkey, it aims to serve more disabled citizens. It focuses on providing treatment, assistance and education opportunities to physically disabled children and young people, and pioneers their active participation in social life with awareness-raising of their families and society in general. BEDD, which struggled with financial impossibilities in the days of its establishment, today provides assistance to an average of 5,000 disabled people in need annually. The light has never been extinguished in BEDD and the service has never been interrupted. The association, which is getting stronger day by day with the support of its friends of heart and donors, continues its activities to remove obstacles.

A Certificate of Appreciation from the Families of Martyred Police Solidarity Association to Uğur Tatlıcı

Uğur Tatlıcı, son of deceased businessman Salih Tatlıcı, made a donation to the Families of Martyred Police Solidarity Association, which was founded in 1992. On this occasion, a certificate of appreciation was presented by the Chairman of the Association, Ms. Emel Çalışkan.

We support the families of our police officers who sacrificed their lives for the homeland and the nation.

“My late father used to say that our police officers are the values of our country; let’s love and respect them. He always supported the relatives of our martyred police officers. Our police are our heroes who ensure our safety, endure every challenge, shield themselves for our safety, and become martyrs on this road. We should always protect and support the families of our martyred police officers,” Uğur Tatlıcı said regarding the donation.

Late businessman Salih Tatlıcı’s wife Nurten Tatlıcı and their son Uğur Tatlıcı donated to the aid campaign organized by Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) for Syrian refugees.

Hospitality is the most critical value of Turkish folk culture.

Regarding the donation, “My late father Salih Tatlıcı was a philanthropic businessman. He always came to the aid of those in need. My father felt very sorry for the sad life of the refugees who sought refuge in our country from neighboring countries and would support them at every opportunity. Our Syrian refugee brothers and sisters have been uprooted from their countries, families, loved ones, homes, belongings, cultures. In short, they have suffered and are still suffering. We wholeheartedly support the campaign organized by Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent), our deep-rooted organization of great historical importance, to heal the wounds of our Syrian brothers and sisters.” Uğur Tatlıcı said.

Turkish Red Crescent Society: The symbol of humanity, impartiality, and peace.

It was founded on June 11, 1868 under the name of “Ottoman Aid Society for the Wounded and Sick Soldiers,” out of the desire to help soldiers who were injured or sick on the battlefield without any discrimination. The sign of Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) is the bright red “crescent” to the left when looking straight ahead on a white background. In the Red Crescent flag, the open side of the “crescent” is towards the opposite of the flagpole. Between the Ottoman-Russian War of 1876 and the Cyprus Peace Operation in 1974, in all the wars in which Turkey is a party and through the mobile and fixed hospitals it established behind the front, the patient transport services, the hospital ships it equipped, the nurses it trained and the volunteer patient caregivers, the Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) assisted in the care and treatment of tens of thousands of friend and enemy of Little Mehmet who were injured or sick on the battlefield, provided humanitarian aid to the prisoners of war, whether Turkish or enemy, and endeavored to care and protect the civilian population affected by the war.

The aim of Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) is to prevent or alleviate human suffering, wherever it is witnessed, without any discrimination, to protect human life and health, to ensure that human personality is respected, and to strive to bring mutual understanding, friendship, respect, cooperation and lasting peace among people. Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) symbolizes solidarity in times of need, equality in times of suffering, humanitarianism, neutrality, and peace in the fiercest moment of the war. Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) shares the basic principles of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. These are the principles of humanity, non-discrimination, impartiality, independence, charitable nature, unity, and universality. Kızılay (The Turkish Red Crescent) is a voluntary social service organization with a legal personality, subject to the provisions of private law, non-profit, free of charge, and working for the benefit of the public.
